Did you know that there’s a city in Georgia where vampires roam freely and dine in fancy restaurants? Where vampire brothers form alliances with the locals and werewolves defend their ancient territories fiercely?

Well, at least they do on screen. The city of Covington has become rather famous due to on-screen appearances on shows like The Vampire Diaries and its spin-off, the Originals. We visited this small city during our filming location adventure in Georgia and fell in love with the stunning small town square and the fascinating tales of film history, but especially with the people. Seriously, these folks were some of the friendliest strangers we’ve ever met during our travels.

In Covington, we were treated like royalty: delicious meals, local gifts and museum tours and a memorable night in an old mansion (probably haunted!) with fancy ol’ furniture and a breakfast experience like no other. We talked about the city’s history, the local gossip, food, architecture, you name it. Our quick visit was over way too soon; we could’ve easily spent a few more nights just enjoying the welcoming atmosphere.

The biggest thanks to the folks at Mystic Grill (inspired & founded with Vampire Fans in mind!), the incredibly friendly staff of Twelve Oaks B&B, the local film museum people and of course, our lovely filming location tour crew. More photos & stories coming up soon!

This blog post is a part of our new short story collection called Memorable Moments.
