Inception. One of the greatest movies of all times, hands down. I visited Paris in May 2016 for a Radiohead gig, but had a full day reserved for some filming location adventures. I went to the corner where Leonardo DiCaprio‘s character Cobb first shows Ellen Page‘s Ariadne what dream architecture is all about and there’s a very impressive slow motion explosion, stood where some characters from Midnight in Paris once stood and even managed to sceneframe the Da Vinci Code in front of Louvre.
But this bridge was the funnest one. Right next to the Eiffel tower, it’s probably not the most obvious pick for photos and is mostly filled with local joggers and bikers flying by and giving you the side-eye for taking selfies on their path.
Taking sceneframes on your own using your left hand while your right is holding the heavy Canon camera isn’t ideal, but it was doable, so I didn’t miss any framing opportunities.
The Inception bridge, Pont de Bir-Hakeim, is over a hundred years old, but boy, does it look cool and modern in the film when Leo & Ellen come and do their thing!
Our advent calendar will feature movie & TV sceneframes and short stories from filming locations we’ve visited during our Fangirl Quest years. You can follow the calendar by checking back in the Advent Calendar tag and check out all the movie locations in this handy map, updated as we go!
