One Aldwych London: Luxury, Location & A Private Cinema

One Aldwych decorations

I had about dozen photos of beautiful flowers after our stay at One Aldwych - might get one of them printed out and framed, actually!

Although we usually stick with the slightly more affordable options while travelling – especially when on a two-month roadtrip – it’s sometimes so very nice to experience a little luxury. While visiting London with our blogger group, we stayed with One Aldwych for a fun night. And what a sweet treat it was!

The lobby was quite peaceful when we arrived, but slowly filled up with people having drinks and meetings in the afternoon and evening.

As we arrived with our luggage and endless amounts of cameras and laptops, we were greeted by their extremely friendly staff and this fabulous lobby.

All the little details instantly got our attention, and once again, we truly looked like a bunch of bloggers, snapping photos of this-and-that, zooming in on little details and circling back and forth the space for the best shots. So funny.

Beautiful details everywhere!

After checking in and having our luggage delivered to our rooms, we agreed to take a little break before meeting downstairs to go out touristing. I spent mine lounging on the massive bed and admiring the views onto the streets and theatres across the street.

I mean, what a location! Just two blocks from Covent Garden and right across the Waterloo Bridge from the National Theatre and Southbank. Perfect for a group of fun-loving visitors like us.

“I almost wish I was here for work…”

I can imagine being a business traveller and staying with One Aldwych while working: my room had a beautiful desk and I could just see myself writing articles there on my laptop, while listening to the quiet buzz of the streets of London and the excited theatre goers below.

We had some other plans though, so we headed out for a long and fun walk to check out some magnificent street art and a tour in The Royal Albert Hall before returning to the hotel for a little afternoon rest.

And oh, the bath… I could write poems praising the bath I had that afternoon.

Nothing quite beats a hot bath after you’ve spent the whole day walking around London

After an hour or two of relaxing and showering in our rooms, we went back downstairs for some dinner. One Aldwych has a lovely, relaxed restaurant called Indigo on their second floor. Half of the dining space is perched above the beautiful lobby and was perfect for people-watching while waiting for our meals.

I see you, lobby people!

Sparkling wine and a lovely meal at Indigo, One Aldwych

We were pretty tired already when we entered the restaurant, but as soon as we were treated to a glass of excellent sparkling wine, the conversation started flowing. We had plans to go clubbing that night, and had also discussed a nearby skybar, so there was absolutely no room for tiredness!

Oh, and then the food arrived… lovely appetizers, a filling main and of course, tasty desserts.

After dinner, we headed out and wanted to go and check out the nearby skybar. We had already looked at some photos online and it looked incredible. However, it turned out that we weren’t dressed in fancy enough clothes and shoes, plus they demand you spend at least £70 on drinks while there. Not to mention the fact they’re usually all booked up and full during weekends.

“Maybe we better go for something else then”, we said, and found ourselves in a lovely pub a few blocks away. As we stepped in and approached the bar, they started playing Stereophonics! Couldn’t have been more pleased at that moment. Full tummy, great ciders on tap and one of my all time favourite bands playing.

(Joke’s on you, fancy skybar! Look at us having fun on ground level!)

A private movie screening? Yes please!

One of my favourite things about One Aldwych (apart from all the luxury and pretty flowers and comfy beds) is the fact that they have a private movie screening room. I mean… A PRIVATE LITTLE CINEMA! I asked to have a little look around to take some photos and loved it.

A private cinema!! Best hotel feature EVER!

Not only do they do movie screenings, they also show live screenings of performances by the National Theatre and the Royal Opera House.

Wouldn’t it be cool to host a blogger get-together here? Maybe pop culture bloggers coming together for a screening of a Marvel film or lifestyle/travel bloggers for a glass of champagne and a lovely play? That would probably be the coolest blogger meet-up of all times…
