We’re getting close to the end of our calendar, so today you’re getting a double Sherlock treat! This year, we organized a fun screening event with the Bath Film Festival and managed to sneak in a little visit to the Sherlock special episode location in the city centre.
Bath is a stunning city in the countryside of southwest England. It’s known for it’s natural hot spring baths, architecture and familiar to many from the life and novels of Jane Austen. In 2015, BBC’s Sherlock team set up camp on the old streets of the city to film their 1st of January 2016 special, The Abominable Bride, the events of which happen in an alternative timeline.
And if you’re not going to film Victorian London in London itself, what better place to go than Bath?
We even managed to fit Sherlock’s whole livingroom in one of our latest sceneframes seen below. The show has featured some impressive tricks before, stuff that could’ve been done with CGI but is actually pulled off with clever staging and props. This particular scene and set didn’t fall any shorter: the results can be seen in the episode and they’re very cool. (Shoutout to Arwel Wyn Jones, the show’s production designer!)
Our advent calendar will feature movie & TV sceneframes and short stories from filming locations we’ve visited during our Fangirl Quest years. You can follow the calendar by checking back in the Advent Calendar tag and check out all the movie locations in this handy map, updated as we go!
